So, tell me about yourself…

It seems fitting that my first blog post be about who I am, but where do I start?

Well, let me start of by saying that there was a time when I signed up for a dating app. After a couple of very awkward messages I realized that this was not for me. I bring this up because whenever I was asked about who I am or what I do, I always gave the same response.

I’m a mom and I am a middle school teacher.

I realize that this is very brief and there’s more to me than just being a mother and what I do for a living so let me explain.

I am a twenty four year old chicana. I a BS in Child and Adolescent Development from CSUF and an MA in Education from UOP. Before October 2016 I was so proud of my education; however, once my daughter was born, that changed.

Today I am so proud to be able to call myself  a mother. Let me tell you, in the 17 months my daughter has been in my life, there have been so many obstacles I have had to face. Motherhood has changed me. It has made me a better person. It has made me a better teacher.

Yep, I am a middle school teacher. This is currently my 5th year in education and my 2nd year as a credentialed teacher. I love being a teacher. I’m not too fond of the 2 1/2 hour long meetings on Friday afternoons, but I’ll push through because I love the relationships I am able to build with my students and I love hearing them say, “I like reading now!”

If I have some time to myself, usually when Julieta is sleeping, I love to be able to sit down and indulge in a good book or write in my planner. I’m a pretty simple person with a pretty chaotic life.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

So, tell me about yourself!
